ALSP Enjoys Rapid Membership Growth

CHICAGO (26 February 2008)— The Association of Litigation Support Professionals, the only nonprofit organization whose members represent all sectors of the field, has surpassed the 500 member mark less than six months after its launch. This coalition of thought-leaders, connected by a common belief in the need for global standards and professional excellence, is experiencing an average growth rate of 48 percent each month — and this expansion will intensify as ALSP builds visibility and influence in the legal community.

ALSP’s membership milestone comes just days after the association held its first in-person educational function in collaboration with LegalTech New York 2008. More than 100 people attended ALSP’s “Preparing for the Meet and Confer Session,” one of many recently unveiled or forthcoming member benefits and educational opportunities. Since its formation ALSP has:

  • Held several educational Webcasts and developed a year-round calendar covering topics from setting up a litigation support center to evidence handling and spoliation. Webcasts typically attract 80 participants per session, and for a limited time are available at no charge to all practicing litigation support professionals. The next ALSP Webcast is:

  • Initiated efforts to develop a certification program for the litigation support profession — a symbol of excellence that will distinguish individuals who demonstrate the knowledge and skills required to perform competently in today's complex litigation support environment.

The value of joining the ALSP community is evident, and numerous additional member benefits are scheduled for roll-out in the coming weeks and months. ALSP invites professionals from across the industry to help shape the evolution of ALSP — and the litigation support profession. Read more at www.alsponline.org.
